REVIEW | King Street Social at Hyatt on King

Winterlicious is back for 2015! We're still unsure of where we'll be dining (need to make reservations ASAP) but after the menu tasting at King Street Social, a restaurant inside the Hyatt on King Street, we strongly encourage you guys to check them out for this year.

Pan Roasted Ricotta and Baby Spinach Stuffed Chicken Breast

Just last night, we were invited to get a special preview of their Winterlicious as well as their Valentine's menu - of course we didn't hesitate to go!

This was my first time dining at the Hyatt on King Street's restaurant, the King Street Social. Chef Wesley Boodhram explained that his team came up with the Asian-themed menu this year as they're all fans of fusion dishes and street food. We definitely saw a lot of those elements in all the dishes in terms of flavours and ingredients.

Tofu and Vegetable Steamed Wonton Soup
served with a lemongrass & tamarind gremolata, tamarind & soy miso

Red Oak and Aged Ontario’s Goat Cheese
with roasted pecans, grape tomatoes, soft herbs & sweet mirin vinaigrette

Grilled Chicken Satay
with a fresh pineapple/apple slaw & a bambu kacang sauce

King Street Beef Lo Mein
Yakisoba noodles, local tenderloin beef, snow peas, lotus root, soft herbs, fungi, mango & jicama relish

40 Day Aged Rib Eye Steak and Teriyaki Prawns
Fire charred five spiced marinated beef, ginger scented glass noodles & lotus chips tempura

Poached Haddock and Wasabi Emulsion
served with red jasmine, toasted almonds & pan fried kale

Grilled Beef Tenderloin and Butter Poached Jumbo Prawn
with cauliflower mash, heirloom carrots, horseradish reduction

Portabella Mushroom En Croute
served with a fragrant Champagne sauce and grilled heirloom tomatoes

Homemade Tofu and Black Bean
Stir fried tofu and black bean with ginger, snow peas, shitake & udon noodles

Passion Fruit Creme Brulee

Lemon and Raspberry Tart
with fresh berries

Warm Bread Pudding with a lychee creme

The highlights of the evening for me were the King Street Beef Lo Mein and the Chicken Satay with mango salad. These dishes were not something out of ordinary - they're menu items that's been around but the flavours were not quite what I expected, so it was a pleasant surprise for my tastebuds!

Whether you visit the Hyatt on King for Winterlicious or for a romantic night with your significant other on Valentine's weekend, you'll be enticed with some Asian fushion menu by Chef Wesley and his team.

The King Street Social is offering both lunch ($23.00) & dinner ($35.00) service for Winterlicious.
